What you should be watching on netflix...
So after graduating from university in June I found myself with a lot more free time than I was used to and of course when you are sitting idle... Netflix is everybody's saviour. Here's a few recommendations as to what you should watch if you find yourself in need of a little tv or movie time:
Orange Is The New Black
I was very late to the party on this one, having only seen a few episodes here and there until now. A month and a half later and I've binge watched every season including the latest Season 5. Hilarious, emotional and sometimes shocking - this is for anyone up for watching what women get up to in prison.
Top of the Lake
This is a BBC production and season 1 is 6 episodes long with a second season just released last month (which I am patiently waiting for to be added to netflix). The show is set in New Zealand and follows a female detective as she investigates the disappearance of a pregnant 12 year old girl called Tui. Gripping and unpredictable with a cast including David Wenham, Peter Mullan and Elizabeth Moss this is one show that'll have you clicking next episode as soon as the end credits come up.
Jessica Jones
One of those Netflix original marvel spin-offs turned tv series, this show is a darker spin-off of the classic superhero story. The show follows P.I Jessica Jones as she solves cases between bouts of drinking. A bit of a slow starter, it took me a couple of episodes to get invested in this but once it gets going it will have you hooked - also, David Tennant is in it so... enough said!
Daredevil
Jessica Jones' predecessor in terms of netflix originals and now on its third season, this is one Marvel classic that has been done with perfect execution. I binge watched season 1 and when season 2 came out I binge watched that aswell... now I await the release of season 3...
Sense8
Another Netflix original - what can I say, they're producing some really great stuff - this show follows a group of people across the world that suddenly become psychically connected unaware of the danger that awaits them. This is a really great, all-inclusive show which represents people of so many different walks of life, and has two seasons although is now cancelled...
The Ninth Life of Louis Drax
This is a recent watch for me and I was pleasantly surprised. Starring Fifty Shade of Grey actor Jamie Dornan and Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul - this is one quirky, dark film that will have you thinking you know the end plot only to prove you wrong.
Spooks: The Greater Good
One of those classic MI5 terrorist action films starring Game of Thrones' Kit Harington, this is a solid one for those wanting some good old spy double-crossing spy drama.
Self/Less
Starring Ryan Reynolds and Ben Kingsley this is an action film with some really interesting plot ideas, however a little predictable - but it's an easy watch so if you're looking for something to veg out to this is the film for you.
That concludes my recommendations for now, write in the comments if you've got any suggestions for me to watch and I'll give you another update in a few weeks on any new discoveries I have!
