3 Facemasks For Dry Skin
Having been plagued with the driest skin I've ever experienced over the last six months or so it's safe to say I've tried everything - creams, moisturisers, oils, face masks...the list goes on and on. But do any of these actually do what they say?
Here's my thoughts on some of the high street face masks I've tried that are aimed at those with dry skin.
Up first is Oatifix from LUSH. Made from mushed up bananas, oats and almonds it truly is as gross as it sounds. Designed for dry, sensitive skin this sounded perfect for me and my troublesome skin so I gave it a bash.
I'm pretty used to the kind of face masks that dry really hard on to your skin and become dry and crack if you move any part of your face so this was quite a weird experience for me. The mush literally just sits on your skin in all its glorious greasiness which is great until it starts to get a bit warm and itchy. Overall I'm not sure this product did much for me other than make me a bit greasier and itchy - perhaps not the one for me - 2/5
Next up is Garnier's Moisture Bomb sheet mask.
All I can say is that this product's claim at being suitable for sensitive skin is just utter bullshit. The second I put this 15 minute sheet mask on my face I experienced a stingy, eyes-streaming, nose-running hellfire - not exactly what I had in mind when I thought I'd try this one out. 6 minutes in it started to feel soothing and cooling but the likely reason it felt like that is because it hurts so much to begin with! By the last 3 minutes your face has completely cooled down and feels really nice but I really don't think the initial pain of this mask is worth it. But if you want to give this a go I'd definitely recommend keeping your eyes closed to avoid irritating them - 1.5/5
The last face mask I tried is another from Garnier - I know, what was I thinking?!
The repairing honey mask is targeted at dry to very dry skin and comes out of the packet in a creamy moisturiser consistency. The directions said to apply it over the skin and simply let it sit for 10 minutes before wiping off the excess of rubbing it in.
Out of the three masks this was surprisingly my favourite. It smelled nice and didn't irritate my skin at all, really it just felt like lathering a rich moisturiser on my face. After the time was up I just rubbed the excess product in to my skin which felt really nice and as if it was actually putting moisture back in to my face. My only complaint would be that the results weren't very long lasting, my face felt dry and tight again within a couple of hours but other than this it was by far the most pleasant of all the face masks I tried - 4/5
I hope you found this review helpful if you also have dry skin and that I saved you from the hellfire that is the Garnier moisture bomb sheet mask. If you have any suggestions for face masks or other products I should try for dry, sensitive skin please do shoot me a message or comment below!
Until next time
