My Top Picks for where to eat in Manchester

Heading to Manchester in the near future and wondering where to eat? Don't worry, I've got you covered!

Last month I met up with one of my best friends in the city of the worker bee after several months apart and after taking in some of the sights, wandering around and getting a real feel for the city's Northern Quarter - our minds turned to one of our shared loves in life...food!

On the first night we were walking around exploring when we stumbled across Red's True Barbeque, drawn in by the neon lights and the enticing menu. Only after being seated did we realise that this was the restaurant belonging to the chain of sauces you can buy in supermarkets all over the UK (Red's South Carolina Mustard BBQ sauce is undoubtedly a favourite!)

Excited is a complete understatement of how I felt reading the menu. I ended up choosing the 'Donut Burger' simply for how bizarre it sounded: "Beef patty, Unholy BBQ sauce, burger cheese, smoked bacon, crispy onions, Dirty sauce. All between two sweet glazed donuts. Served with Frickles." How could I not?!

Kelly went for the 'Juicy Lucifer' - a spicy burger with molten cheese in the centre. Both were absolute dynamite on the taste buds. As weird as it sounds I keep thinking about those glazed donuts and how it tasted like the burger equivalent of pancakes, bacon and maple syrup. Definitely hit up Red's for a burger experience you will not forget!

On our first morning we headed to Fig + Sparrow on Oldham Street for a brunch before I headed to a tattoo appointment.

I had a simple but delicious sandwich and coffee and Kelly had the salad equivalent of my sandwich. A great wee coffee shop for something quick and simple yet full of flavour! Plus the interiors were super lush!

For dinner that day we headed to Crazy Pedro's Part Time Pizza Parlour after passing it on our travels during the day.

We split a pizza, going half Wacko Jacko and half KFC. The menu options were absolutely insane so if you're a pizza queen like me this is one place you don't want to miss! Here's the menu just to tickle your fancy a little more...

Day 2 saw us heading to Moose Coffee for breakfast as Kelly had seen it the last time she was in the city and was desperate to see what the long ass queues were all about. We somehow managed to time our arrival perfectly, nabbing the last table before a queue formed at the door behind us. Looking over the menu, I wasn't at all surprised by its popularity. Every variation of pancakes, waffles, eggs benedict, french toast... the list goes on.

I went for cinnamon and apple waffles with salted caramel sauce and my god, I wish I could say I finished it all but alas...the moose defeated me. With the fluffiest pancakes you've ever eaten and a caramel macchiato to die for I'd definitely go here if you're into a more indulgent breakfast on your travels. The crazy interior alone is undoubtedly worth the trip, with chandeliers made from antlers and painted clothed moose (mooses? What is the plural of moose?) it's a quirky one for the eyes and the tastebuds.

Our last meal in Manchester was at Yard & Coop - basically Nando's but a million times better! With another quirky themed interior and so many options to choose from on the menu, this was probably the most perfect last meal we could have had!

I opted for chicken breast with Korean sauce and chips with cheese sauce on top and a side of Not Chicken Nuggets (halloumi instead). Kelly went for the chicken wings with The Bee's Knees sauce (spicy) and honestly, I don't think chicken ever tasted so good! Top it off with this cute little Oreo Milkshake in a unique little carton and you have a meal I can't not give 10/10.

In all honesty the food was undoubtedly the best part of this three day trip, Manchester... you don't disappoint!

Let me know if you end up trying any of these joints on your Manchester travels in the comments, until next time!
